How it works
The maker places your longest words first, fills the rest of the grid with letters, then searches the finished grid in all eight directions. If any word turns up more than once, or not at all, it throws that grid away and tries again. That is why it will warn you when one of your words is hidden inside another (for example CAT inside CATERPILLAR): both would be found twice.
Every puzzle has a link you can share or bookmark. The same link always makes the same puzzle.

Is this word search maker free?
Yes. Make and print as many as you like for personal or classroom use. There is no account and nothing to install.
Can I make a large-print word search?
Yes. Tick “Large print” for bigger, bolder letters, and choose a 10×10 or 12×12 grid for the most room per letter.
How do I save it as a PDF?
Press Print, then choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. The puzzle and its answer key print on separate pages.
Why did it say a word is inside another word?
If one word is part of another, it would be found twice in the grid, which makes the puzzle unfair. Remove one of the two words.
